Ladies Don’t… is an ongoing series where I explore and retaliate against the things society says women shouldn’t do. As girls & women, we’ve been told our whole life that we shouldn’t behave a certain way or look a certain way. “Ladies don’t sit like that”, “Ladies don’t have body hair.”

The women in these images are seen in out-of-date female-specific situations (being vain and house-cleaning), but their breaking of gender expectations is seen when the viewer examines the images closer.

I want these images to create discomfort. I want them to create discussions. I believe women should have the freedom to express themselves any way they choose and shouldn’t have to abide by society’s rules. I don’t think the phrase “Ladies don’t…” should exist anymore.
